One of my goals is to help you document your journey into motherhood.  Pregnancy is a beautiful thing and should be celebrated.  The maternity portrait celebration documents this stage in your life.  The pregnant belly is beautiful.   This time is magical and having it documented in photographs gives your little one the opportunity for you…

When Should I Schedule my Maternity Session?

When should I book my maternity session? You should begin planning your Maternity Session as soon as you know your due date. Once you have the date we can then decide on a time that is best for your photos.  It’s best to schedule your Maternity Session when you’re between seven to eight months along. This…

3 Things I love about Newborn Sessions | Austin Newborn Photographer

Newborn sessions are my favorite. I love working with babies, but the newborn sessions are really special.  They’ll only be this little for a short period of time and it will go by much, much faster than you can possibly imagine.  The images from your baby’s newborn session will be special to you and your…

Knowing you Val, yes, you can knit a pair of pants by Thursday! I love the Flotaki rug. I used to have one. Loved the smell and how super soft it was!!! Like floating in a cloud. The babies must think it’s dreamy!ReplyCancel

LOL. I’m not too sure. This pattern is backwards from how I normally knit baby pants. These pants start at the legs and you work your way up one leg at a time. The good news, is I’m careful I can match the stripes more easily than the other way I normally knit. I’m just not sure how the legs get put together and the waist is formed at this point. I’m almost done with the first leg so I guess I’ll see shortly how the rest of these little pants come together.ReplyCancel

So cute! I’ve tried to learn to knit several times, and eventually had to accept that fiber is not my friend. Is it stressful working with newborns and parents?ReplyCancel

So far working with newborns and their parents has been pretty easy. If the baby is fussy and doesn’t want to fuss or be posed I get to hold him/her a little longer before trying the set-up again.ReplyCancel

Newborn Session at Valerie Kay Photography’s Studio in Austin, TX Hello and happy Sunday!  I’m here to share a little bit of one of my last newborn portrait sessions.  Little Miss Eliza came in for her newborn session when she was just about fourteen days new.  She was the cutest little blonde, just like her…

Beautiful Val, just beautiful! Reading your post, I just tell how much joy each and every one of your shoots brings you! And the dedication you put into it- from hand knitting the swaddle sack to the varnish you apply to the final prints.

I guess since at times I have photographed just about anything, I will say all my hobbies play well with work! Certainly my love of travel works with my travel/editorial work, love of music photographing the Unplugged music series and then of course Agility with Cara lead to many a pet portrait!ReplyCancel

Oh Val! I just love them all. Thank you so much for being so incredibly patient with her. (Val left out all the fussing, crying, and accidents my little princess did during the shoot.) You were so patient and understanding. I am so grateful for these portraits. I just know others would have given up, but you waited out her fussy periods and took the photos on her terms. I am so thankful and just thrilled with the photos you managed to get even with an uncooperative model!ReplyCancel
