What are Milestone Sessions?
Milestone sessions are meant to capture the growth and development of your baby through the first year. Generally, milestone sessions take place between three and four months, once baby is sitting (usually between six and nine months), and then the last session is scheduled just in time to celebrate baby’s first birthday. These sessions can be booked individually or you may choose to invest in a “Watch Me Grow” baby milestone package. This is an all-inclusive package that includes three baby sessions that include digital images from each session and an heirloom album documenting baby’s first year.
The photo session that takes place around three months documents baby’s growth and development since their newborn session. Baby cannot sit yet, so these photos will capture baby from above and while having some tummy time. As with my newborn sessions I have special knitted pieces for babies at this stage to wear for baby’s milestone sessions.
Sitter (6-9 Months)
Once baby has mastered the art of sitting you can schedule your next milestone session. This skill is usually developed sometime around six months. These sessions can be scheduled anytime between six and nine months. Some of the new baby skills we capture at this session are sitting (of course!), grabbing feet while on the back, and if baby has been introduced to solids we can do something fun with food. I call this my “First Tastes Food Smash” and it is oh so fun!
One Year – Cake Smash
The last milestone session of baby’s first year is the One Year & Cake Smash Session. This can be scheduled just in time for baby’s birthday or sometime in the eleventh month if you’d like photographs for birthday invitations. These sessions can simply be baby and cake with minimum decoration or highly stylized to fit your baby’s birthday party theme.
Miss Eliza was my most recent birthday girl. I enjoyed documenting her first year. Isn’t she just the cutest?
