This past fall I decided to work towards becoming an accredited newborn photographer. I began the process by taking joining Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International (APNPI) and took their Newborn Safety Course. Once that was complete and I passed the associated exam I was able to submit images to APNPI as part of the Qualified Newborn Photographer certification. This consisted of a coursework and exam covering business practices as well as image submission. The images submitted were to demonstrate basic camera/photography basics as well as knowledge of composition, newborn posing, and most importantly keeping baby safe during their newborn photography session. It took a little while to get my results in, but I’m excited to say I passed and am one of the first to hold this certification in Texas and at the moment the only QNP (Qualified Newborn Photographer Certification) in the Austin area.
